ASIN THOTTUMKAL is one of the current leading actress in south Indian film industry with huge offers from bollywood.She was born in the state of kerala on oct 26.Her father is a businessman and mother is a surgeon.Asin is known for her wonderful action.Currently doing some high budget movies like Ghazini(aamir khan) and London Dreams(salman khan)for which she got 1.5 crore rupees as remuneration.Before entering into films asin is more interested in business and she assisted her father in their business.She recieved entrepreneurial award as a teenager.She is also known for knowing many languages like tamil,telugu,hindi,sanskrit,english,french.
Film Career:Asin debuted in a supporting role in unsuccessful Malayalam film Narendran Makan Jayakanthan Vaka in 2001, at the age of 15.Asin returned with her breakthrough film as an actress, Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi opposite Ravi Teja, portraying a Tamil girl in her first Telugu language film, which got her the Telugu Filmfare Award for Best Actress. In the same year she won the Santosham Best Actress Award for her performance alongside Nagarjuna in her second Telugu film, Shivamani. Her following two Telugu films, Lakshmi Narasimha and Gharshana, both portrayed Asin as the love interest for police officers, giving her two more solid hit films, cementing her place as a leading actress in the Telugu film industry.Asin's first Tamil language film was M. Kumaran son of Mahalakshmi, in which she co-starred with Jayam Ravi. Asin reprised her role from her film Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi for the remake, which saw her portraying a Malayali girl instead of the Tamil girl in the original. The movie subsequently went on to become one of the biggest hits in Tamil cinema during 2004, introducing Asin to Tamil film industry.
Current Position:Since becoming the leading actress in South India, Asin has opted to move into Bollywood, to get nationwide fame. Her first film, Ghajini opposite Aamir Khan is the remake of her breakthrough film, whilst she also has Vipul Shah's London Dreams alongside Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan in her forthcoming releases.She has also been signed for an English language film named The 19th Step, to be produced by Walt Disney in which she will act alongside Kamal Hassan and critically acclaimed Japanese Actor Tadanobu Asano. The rumour is that she will be playing the role of an Indian Princess who falls in love with a Japanese Person (played by Asano) who comes to India to learn the Martial Art of Kalarippayattu from an Indian Martial Arts Trainer (played by Kamal Hassan). This film is expected to be a multilingual film with the film being made in English, Tamil and Japanese.
